Specialist Donald Scott Morrison

A 2005 Graduate of Sycamore High School; Scott makes the fourth student from Sycamore  to be killed in action.
Scott had been in the milatary two years; he joined because his friend was killed in action and felt that was where he belonged.
His father is a Blue Ash firefighter; Scott worked for parks and recreation in Blue Ash before he joined the military
Funeral arrangements pending.
Lots of his friends gathered at the Yellow Ribbon Support Center to make yellow ribbons.

Each Year we look for package deals and neat items;we auction these off.

Bass Pro Shops has put together a great package: It is worth $5500.00; It will include fishing trip, hunting trip,turkey shoot and so much more.

We have a Gold Star Mom who is donating a 2 day stay at the Marriott hotel in Saratoga Springs, NY, We will adding extras, keep watching.

Texas Roadhouse will donate Dinner for two for one year again this year. Thank you Brian Krutcher.

Where Does the Money Go ?

People ask us how much money did we make :here is what Let Us Never Forget has done in the past five years; No one gets paid to put on this event we are all volunteers.

2006 income was $89,249.56 Expenses for supplies and  entertainers $4510.00 Oasis CC was paid 16,065.00 for food and use of hall, Prestige sound was paid 5,000.00 ;we gave 30 scholarships$ at 2000.00 each for a total of 60,000.00 dollars.Balance of money carried over to 2007

2007 income was $79,077.09..Oasis$ 18,525.00, prestige audio $5000.00, air line tickets $2300.00, Supplies $2316.16, gave 41 scholarships @$1000.00 ;41,oooo.oo/ $9935.93 balance carried over to 2008 .

2008 income $149,479.90 / Oasis 17628.42/ 5000./air line tickets $1082.34/entertainers/3159.34 air line tickets and cost./$6686.65 merchandise give ways and sales.48 locals@1000 48,000 47 states@250.00 $11750.00/ supplies, postage, decorations $5287.69

balance  carried over 49,059.36 2009       This is the year Matt Maupin came home..

2009 Income was $34,388.00 from event with balance from 2008 and Donations we had total of $95,648.46       

 Total Expenses were 93,621.46, We gave 52,000 in local scholarships and 14,500.00 to fifty states this left us with a balance of $2027.toward 2010.  itemized expense may be seen any time.

2010 event proceeds were$63154.00+ donation  thru the year $20,615.00 + 2027.00  total of $85796.00. Local scholarships were cut because of lack of money. we gave $36,250.00 to local and $14,500.00 to out of state. Oasis $15,300 .00 Prestige $5000.00, expenses$7075.45, leaving $7670.55 in account for 2011

Total $278,000.00, we also have baseball scholarships and the Matt Maupin Scholarships that makes us giving over $300,000 in scholarships. Balance in account as of now thru donation since April 9th 2010 is $17100.43 We now have 60 locals and 57 out of state to honor with scholarships. We would like to add that every year we have no shows & a couple people did not pay, we have to pay for these meals, we loose a lot of money in this area. This year we may have to have payment up front. We are cutting cost where ever we can, and still do a quality event. Dine out for a year for 2011

Last year we collected gift cards and put them all together and made a book of dining out. The book was in our live auction, and we were able to raise $1400.00 for the scholarship fund. Indiana Marine KIA September 8th,2010

 A local Marine who was killed in Afghanistan was on his third tour of duty overseas, but the first one in that country. John Bishop, 25, had served twice in Iraq before being sent to Afghanistan. Bishop family was notified on Wednesday that John and another Marine was killed. John is from Versailles, IN . Please Pray for the family.. funeral arrangements have not been released.

Sgt James Robinson KIA

Another,  Ohio soldier based at Fort Campbell, Ky., died in Afghanistan when his unit was attacked by insurgents. This brings the total of 42 since March, killed in Afghanistan.9/6/10

The government says 27-year-old Spc. James Robinson, Middleton in the Cincinnati area, died in  Afghanistan, when the unit was hit with indirect fire. Robinson was an infantryman assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

Among his awards are the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
 
He is survived by his wife, a daughter and a stepdaughter, who live in Fort Campbell, and his parents, from Middletown in Ohio. 

Spec. Robinson was a member of the Patriot Guard with his father , a group of motorcycle riders who serve as an escort to the families and friends at the funerals of fallen soldiers.

Monroe High School plans honor him, Yellow Ribbon Support Center’s: Let Us Never Forget Scholarship will be given in his honor on April 9th ,2011.

Keith Maupin and volunteers from YRSC were at Hook Field when he was returned to Middleton on Labor Day.

Owensville Soldier KIA in Afghanistan Joe Bauer

Rev. Jerry Hiland of St. Louis Church in Owensville announced the death at Mass Saturday, July 24, 2010.

Hiland said Joe was the son of Roger Bauer of Owensville. Joe was in the U.S. Army and had just re-enlisted, choosing to make the army his career.

This is the second person from St. Louis to die while serving his country in the current wars. Marine Nick Erdy, a member of the church, was killed in Iraq in 2005.

The Community Press will give us more informationas it becomes available we will then update this story 

This brings the count to 12 for Clermont County, We have had our share of losses.  More Yellow Ribbons are needed.
