Ohio Patriot Guard Loses Nephew

Sgt. 1st Class William Brian Woods, nephew of Robert Woods, died August 16, 2009 from wounds suffered when he was shot on August 14 while on patrol in Ghanzi, Afghanistan. Sgt. Woods, 31, leaves a wife, Elizabeth, two daughters and brothers and sisters.

Woods deployment was one of many, says his uncle, Robert Woods. Mr. Woods spoke with his nephew on the phone on the night before he left for Afghanistan. Sgt. Woods grew up in Catwissa, Mo.

Mr. Robert Woods, an Ohio State Captain of the Patriot Guard, has attended many of the funerals of the Tri-State Fallen Heroes. Because of Robert’s dedication to the Fallen Heroes, his nephew will receive a “Let Us Never Forget” scholarship in his memory.

Wojo’s Parents Host Halloween Party

Teresa and Anthony Dillinger are planning a Halloween Party at the American Legion Post 72 in Mt. Carmel on October 24, 2009 beginning at 8:00 p. m. to midnight.
There will be a Halloween costume competition with prizes for first, second and third place, raffles & door prizes, split the pot, entertainment and lots of fun. (Costumes are optional.) Cost is $15.00 per person.
Proceeds will go to the Yellow Ribbon Support Center.

The event net was over $4500.00 Great job to all who helped. Thank you.

Clermont County Loses Another Marine

Marine Staff Sgt. Mark A Wojciechowski, 25, of Cincinnati died April 30, 2009 while supporting combat operations in Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to Camp Pendleton and was a graduate of Glen Este Hight School. Wojciechowski, or “Tony Wojo” as he liked to be known, was on his second deployment to Iraq. He was also an active member of American Legion Post 72.

Gold Star Parents Raises Money

Cathy Weber, mother of Army Spc. Robert F. Weber, organized a bike run and raised $1,200.00 for the “Let Us Never Forget” Scholarship Fund.

Rick and Janice Roos, parents of Army Pfc. Timothy Roos, Jr., held a bowling tournament and a walk for The Fallen Heroes Museum and raised aprox. $7,000.00.

Roos did it again they raised another $500.00 for the museum at their Halloween Party.

Theresa Dillinger mother of Anthony Wojciechowski, KIA hosted a Halloween Party,The attendance was small; the donations were huge.The committee work very hard, and raised over $4500.00 dollars. The Costume contest was great.

A great big thanks.

Dinner-dance honors “Fallen Heroes”

Keith Maupin never set out to help found a support-the-troops nonprofit organization.

In the days after son and Army Spc. Matt Maupin was taken captive by Iraqi insurgents in April 2004, his focus was on one soldier — a former Glen Este High School football player with a broad back and an even broader smile.

“I had every hope that they’d find Matt in the months after he went missing,” said Keith Maupin. “The chances were slim to none and slim left town but I never quit and I wasn’t going to quit.”
